Believe it or not, sometimes I’ll have leftover steak. If you want to make things easy, check out the best way to reheat steak in the air fryer. I love a good, juicy steak. Some of my favorite cuts of steak are always made in my air fryer. There are a few reasons why reheating steak is awesome in the air fryer, but first, you need to know my favorite trick for making steaks.
Let The Meat Hit Room Temperature Before Cooking
If you want a juicy steak that’s fresh, or juicy when reheating, the trick to keep things moist and flavorful is to allow the meat to come to room temperature before cooking it. Another reason to temper the meat is so that the meat will cook evenly. If you don’t temper the meat, the outside of the meat will cook faster than the inside and you may end up with a cut of meat a little more rare than desired. For best results, I allow my meat to sit on the counter from the fridge for at least 30 minutes, but close to an hour if possible.
How long should you allow the meat to come to room temp before cooking?
I suggest an hour from the refrigerator to the countertop, but no more than two hours as the meat can start going bad. Another reason to cook meat at room temp is that the evenness of the temperature in the meat will also ensure a more tender piece of meat once cooked. This is ideal for a freshly cooked steak. I love reheating steak in the air fryer because the hot air circulation gives the steak that delicious light crisp while keeping the steak tender and juicy. It also takes less time than a cast-iron skillet, and it’s much better than using a microwave. It’s one of my favorite ways to reheat a steak.
Should the steak rest after cooking?
Yes! Once you have cooked a steak, cover it to keep it warm and allow it to rest for a few minutes before serving. This ensures the juices spread evenly through the meat and you don’t end up with a rubbery steak. Different cuts of meat and type of steak and the preferred doneness will also dictate how long it will take you to reheat a steak in the air fryer. I have found the best steak method for reheating is to reheat them at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This is a high enough temperature to reheat the steak without overcooking it. Another optional tip is to brush the steak with avocado or olive oil before reheating.
How to reheat steak in the air fryer
Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Add the steak in a single layer to the air fryer basket and air fry for 6-8 minutes, flipping the steak halfway through cooking time. Remove the steak from the air fryer and cover it for a few minutes with aluminum foil before serving. Serve with a dollop of butter and your favorite sides. NOTE: If the steak is not reheated enough to your liking, add 2-3 minutes of cooking time at 320 degrees Fahrenheit to the reheating process. The lower temperature will ensure you’re not overcooking the steak. The air fryer ensures you get a crispy exterior with this easy reheating method. It’s an easy way and an excellent way to make steak taste fresh and new.
