This month, I’m sharing a new, delicious, and nutritious smoothie recipe every week (don’t miss the fab Green Smoothie or Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie that kicked us off!) because they’re such an easy, fuss-free, and yummy way to sneak more servings of fruit and veggies into your day. And “easy” is the most alluring quality whenever we’re seeking to add a few healthier habits into our lifestyle. Many types of fruits are good in smoothies – strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, and bananas are popular and easy to find. You also can find more ingredient options in my collection of fantastic healthy smoothies. Peaches are a fruit I see in smoothies less frequently. Their flavor is more mild compared with fruits like raspberries or pineapple, so if you pair peaches with a stronger fruit, they can be overpowered. OR the opposite can occur. If you fail to add ingredients that help the peaches pop, the resulting smoothie can be bland. Today’s peach smoothie, however, proves that adding peaches to smoothies with the right combo of complementary flavors can give you a smoothie that shines with peach flavor. It’s nothing short of keen! Thanks to little touches like the addition of honey and banana for sweetness, this peach smoothie with almond milk tastes as fresh as a ripe peach on a summer day. And it’s a filling way to start your day too!
Peach Smoothie Benefits
I love starting my day with one of my Healthy Breakfast Smoothies. The natural sweetness from the fruit just revs me up to tackle my tasks. Though this peach smoothie recipe doesn’t call for hidden veggies like this super-duper Strawberry Spinach Smoothie, it’s still very healthy.
Peaches are loaded with antioxidants, potassium, and vitamin A.Bananas are high in potassium and fiber, and packed with vitamins B6 and C.If you like, you can also toss in a handful of spinach for a peach green smoothie.
How to Make a Peach Smoothie
This peach smoothie with yogurt is a breeze for beginners trying to get in the habit of frequent smoothie making. It’s only a few ingredients to throw in a blender. Satisfying fruit servings couldn’t be any easier! This smoothie reminds me of the fruit slushes my friends and I used to get at the mall during middle school, except 10,000x better tasting (and better for you!). It’s guaranteed to be a hit with kids as well. How wonderful that we can all think of enjoying fruit as a special treat.
The Ingredients
Frozen Peaches. Beloved for their juiciness and sunshiney flavor, peaches are a five-star addition to smoothies. They make the smoothie taste light, bright, and sweet.Frozen Bananas. Adds natural sweetness and helps make the smoothie thick.Milk. Making this a peach smoothie with milk gives it the ideal consistency. I chose to use unsweetened almond milk, but you can use any milk you prefer. Nonfat Greek Yogurt. For the most delicious, creamy smoothie. Greek yogurt also packs protein and probiotics into this smoothie. Honey. Honey is a perfect complement to the peaches, and it adds natural sweetness the smoothie needs to taste its best. Vanilla. Vanilla adds wonderful warmth, coziness, and helps the peaches shine. Cinnamon + Ginger. Cinnamon and ginger help bolster the peach flavor and make this smoothie taste just like peach pie.
The Directions
Variations for a Peach Smoothie
Strawberries. To make a strawberry peach smoothie, just add a few strawberries (frozen or fresh with the tops sliced off).
Orange Juice. Include some zest and pizzazz by having a peach smoothie with orange juice or a blend of orange juice and milk. (Just be sure your O.J. doesn’t have added sugars.)Protein Powder. This smoothie has some protein because of the Greek yogurt. But if you want to add protein powder for a good recovery after a workout, add a ½ scoop of your preferred protein powder (I’d recommend vanilla with the peach flavor).
Storage Tips
To Store. Cover and refrigerate leftover smoothies for up to 1 day. To Freeze. Freeze smoothies in an airtight freezer-safe jar or ice cube tray for up to 3 months. Smoothies stored in a jar can be thawed overnight in the refrigerator before serving. Smoothie ice cubes can be thrown directly into the blender for smoothies on demand.
