Say hello to your newest snack addiction - homemade baked pita chips. We almost always have a pack of pita bread on hand for easy wraps (hello Greek Chicken Gyros) and making crispy pita crisps is a great way to use up any leftovers. Pita chips are incredibly easy to make, and once you try them I’m sure you’ll be making them again and again. They’re a great blank canvas to build on. Keep it simple with a seasoning of salt, or get creative and sprinkle everything but the bagel seasoning on top.
Why you’ll love this recipe…
Quick and easy - you’ll wonder why you haven’t made these sooner! Healthier than store bought - most store bought pita chips are fried and loaded with fat and sodium. Perfect crisp pita bread chips every time - foolproof, easy to follow method.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Are you ready for this? When I told you these pita chips were easy to make I wasn’t joking. Here’s all you need (full measurements in the printable recipe card below)…
Pita Bread Olive Oil Salt
Optional Spices: Take your pita chips further by playing around with different spices. Try sprinkling one of these spices (or use your favourite) on top of your pita chips before baking.
Everything but the Bagel Seasoning Garlic Powder Oregano Za’atar Garam Masala
How to make Homemade Baked Pita Chips - Step by Step
Preheat the oven to 190C / 375F. Cut each pita into 8 even triangles. Brush each triangle with oil on both sides - you only want to lightly coat the pita, not soak it. Season each piece with salt (or if you want to try adding a spice, do so here).
Arrange pita chips on a baking tray in a single layer (do not overlap) and bake for 10 minutes or until golden and crisp.
Let the chips cool completely before serving. Then serve your favourite dip or store in an airtight container until you’re ready to serve. TIP - Don’t skip letting the chips cool completely. As they cool, they get crispier, giving you the best crispy pita chips!
Storing Pita Chips
Pita chips can be made in advance and stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. They will remain crisp during this time.

If you want to try a spice, simply sprinkle ½ a teaspoon on top of pita chips before baking. This isn’t necessary though, and I find the plain pita chips are best if you are serving with a particularly flavourful dip!

Allow your pita chips to cool completely before serving. They continue to crisp up as they cool.
