What’s better than a frozen Margarita? A CHOCOLATE Margarita, of course! Made with chocolate ice cream, tequila and Agavero orange liqueur.
Sleepless baby nights = mommy needs a Sunday cocktail + some chocolate = a well deserved chocolate Margarita! ??? And that, ladies and gentlemen, was my first post pregnancy cocktail. Go big or go home, right? Actually, I did not get to go as big as I’d like, because of breastfeeding and Tim micro managing every sip, afraid that our baby would turn out a drunk. ? (Just kidding! Kinda…) But this frozen chocolate margarita raised my (exhausted) spirits and satiated all my cravings! And as I type these words, I know I will sleep good tonight. Provided Rebecca has the same plans, of course… (Who am I kidding? Of course she won’t!)
I knew my first cocktail after such a difficult pregnancy would have to be indulgent. So the idea of chocolate quickly crossed my mind and I decided on a chocolate margarita. I played with several versions on my mind: one involving chocolate liqueur, another with chocolate ganache and, finally, the winner: chocolate ice cream. I wanted something easy that didn’t require more than two bottles of booze, because #momlife is my new motto! And while you could just mix chocolate ice cream and tequila, making a delicious boozy milkshake, you just can’t beat the results you get with Agavero Orange. The cocktail doesn’t taste like orange at all, the liqueur simply enhances the chocolate making it super chocolicious! I wasn’t familiar with Agavero Orange before, but my mom travels to Mexico quite a lot and noticed the bottle as soon as she saw it in my kitchen. She told me she tried it in Mexico and simply had to bring one back with her to Brazil! If you haven’t tried it, I highly recommend. Agavero Orange is a tequila based liqueur that is the perfect addition to any margarita recipe. It’s Gran Centenario tequila’s perfect match, and it will be a must for all your future Margaritas.
Now, I ended up adding too much ice to make the Frozen Chocolate Margarita look more like a traditional frozen Margarita, but I recommend you don’t add as much and let the ice cream do its job. Unless you’re more into a slushy type of cocktail, then by all means go for it! The beauty of cocktail recipes is that you get to adapt them to your taste without ruining everything! For example, I’m – at the moment, because of lack of “practice” – pretty light weight, so my Margarita is not super strong. If you can handle more, just add more! Nobody’s judging. ?
