I’m talking about chewy cookies, fudgy brownies, crunchy pretzels, and juicy chocolate-covered strawberries. Are you drooling yet? But that’s not all. Have you ever tried dark chocolate and sea salt popcorn? How about sticky and sweet s’mores Rice Krispie treats? Truthfully, you can’t really go wrong when chocolate is involved. So, grab your favorite brand and head to the kitchen. And remember, there’s no such thing as too much chocolate!
1. Grilled S’Mores Sandwich
Along with the gooey filling, my favorite thing about a grilled cheese sandwich has to be that incredible crunchy bread. It’s buttery, crisp, and the perfect contrast to the soft cheesy filling. This dessert sandwich is everything you love in a grilled cheese, only it’s sweet. But that incredible marshmallow and chocolate filling is kind of addictive. You’ve been warned!
2. Cosmic Brownies
Cosmic brownies are insanely fudgy, and that soft chocolate frosting makes them extra indulgent. It all starts with melted butter and sugar. Whisk this with the eggs until it starts to thicken and turn slightly pale. Then very gently stir the rest of the ingredients in, being extra careful with the flour. Of course, they won’t be Cosmic without the rainbow sprinkles on top! Be sure to get rainbow chip sprinkles, which are filled with chocolate for the most authentic finish.
3. Chocolate Peanut Butter Grahams
Graham Crackers are crunchy, lightly sweet, and good for more than just s’mores and cheesecake bases. Since they have far less sugar than regular cookies, they make terrific snacks. You’ll need two different kinds of chocolate and plenty of creamy peanut butter. Mix the peanut butter with white chocolate so you have a silky-smooth and tasty coating that will set.
4. Ghirardelli Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
In all my years in the kitchen, I’ve never had a bad chocolate chip cookie. Sure, I prefer them thick and chewy, but that doesn’t mean I won’t devour the batch if they come out thin and crispy. Amazingly, this recipe can give you both! The edges will turn golden and crunchy while the middle stays thick, buttery, and wonderfully chewy. Ghirardelli cacao baking chips are the perfect addition because they have an intense chocolate taste, but they won’t burn in the oven.
5. Homemade Junior Mints
Junior Mints are known for their bold minty taste. Unlike Peppermint Patties that keep things cool, these babies pack a fresh punch. The filling is actually dangerously simple to whip up, and it’s kind of like a thick cream cheese frosting. Just blend cream cheese with powdered sugar, and then mix in your mint extract. Depending on the brand, you may need more or less extract than the recipe calls for. I’d start with half the amount and taste it before adding extra because some are pretty strong.
6. Homemade Peanut Butter Cups
If you’ve ever lived abroad, you’ll know that Reese’s aren’t available all over the world. It’s sad but true, and after a few months, you’ll have no choice but to make your own. Luckily, it couldn’t be easier! Not only are these super simple to recreate at home, but making your own means you can stuff even more peanut filling inside.
7. S’Mores Rice Krispie Treats
Rice Krispie treats are already full of sweet, sticky goodness. So, all you need to add to make these extra special are some chocolate chunks and crushed graham crackers. You’ll make these just like you would a standard recipe, and the first step is to melt the marshmallows with butter until smooth. Then stir through the rice cereal along with your extras. Mini-marshmallows are a must to provide some soft texture, and I like to use chopped Hershey bars for that signature taste.
8. Hershey’s Fudge Recipe
I can’t lie; this isn’t the easiest fudge recipe out there. In fact, it’s kind of complicated and requires a candy thermometer and elbow grease. Because temperature plays a vital role in how this turns out, always be sure to have everything ready before you start. That way, you can grab and pour without having to stop and measure. Start by blending cocoa powder, sugar, and salt with milk and bring it to a boil. Once this reaches 234 degrees Fahrenheit (112.22°C), take it off the heat and mix through the butter. Then, once it’s cooled to 110 degrees Fahrenheit (43.33°C), you’ll need to beat it with a wooden spoon until it’s thick and matte.
9. Rolo Pretzel Buttons
We’re going from one extreme to the other here. This recipe needs just three ingredients and a total of 5 minutes to make. You’ll want to grab mini-pretzels for this so that the Rolo will cover the whole top as it melts. If you get something bigger, you might need to add two candies per pretzel. After just a couple of minutes in the oven, they should be soft enough to press M&Ms on top.
10. Ghirardelli Hot Chocolate Recipe
A lot of hot cocoa mixes are overly sugary and don’t have much chocolate taste to them. They’re usually weak and watery too, so what’s the point? If you want something sweet and indulgent, you should go all out! The good news is that Ghirardelli has you covered. Their cocoa mix is super-rich and intensely chocolatey. If you like it creamy, go ahead and use hot milk instead of water.
11. Chocolate Raisin Clusters
When I was a kid, this was the only way I would eat raisins. I just couldn’t appreciate their sweetness and lovely chewy texture unless they were enrobed in chocolate. Full disclosure: it’s still my favorite way to eat them! If you’ve ever tried to make chocolate-covered raisins, you’ll know it’s all but impossible to make anything but clusters, which works out because these are like ultra chewy cookies.
12. Peanut Butter Blossoms Cookie Recipe
Peanut blossom cookies are wonderfully soft and will melt in your mouth at first bite. With or without chocolate, these are addictive. But remember, there’s no such thing as too much chocolate! And all it takes to make these amazing instead of just great are a few Hershey Kisses. Press them into the center of each cookie as soon as they come out of the oven and try to wait until they’re cool to dig in.
13. Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Who doesn’t love a plate full of chocolate-covered, ruby red, juicy strawberries? They’re sweet, rich, loaded with lovely fruity flavor, bite-sized, and pretty darn cheap to make, too. Of course, you have to start with fresh, ripe strawberries. Frozen will not do! Along with that, try to get good quality chocolate, so you know it will melt properly.
14. Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding
Many chocolate pudding recipes include eggs, and you need to temper them with hot milk, constantly whisking until it thickens. But we don’t all have the time and patience to go that route. So, instead, try this simplified recipe that relies on cornstarch to make it thick and creamy. Just heat sugar with cocoa powder, cornstarch, salt, and milk, and whisk until it’s thickened. Add the butter and vanilla last, and be sure to cover it with cling film that touched the surface. That will prevent it from forming a thick skin on the top.
15. Peanut Butter Chocolate Pretzels
This recipe is very similar to the graham cracker recipe from above, only it uses dark, super crunchy pretzels instead. This is a straightforward and tasty way to jazz up that big tub of pretzels, and they even make great edible gifts. Keep in mind that it may be a little time-consuming to dip each pretzel, but it’s so worth it in the end. That said, you could always use pretzel rods, which will dip very easily.
16. Potato Chip Clusters
When it comes to sweet and salty snacks, I think we often overlook the humble potato chip. It’s crunchy, salty, and I especially love it when they’re ridged. Now, obviously, this won’t work with all chips. For example, I can’t imagine covering sour cream and onion chips in chocolate. But a simple, lightly salted chip is the perfect pairing for creamy and sweet white chocolate.
17. Oreo Cookie Balls
As much as I love cake pops/truffles, I do miss a bit of texture after a few (dozen). That’s why I love these Oreo truffles so much. They’re still lovely and tender, and the cookies will soften as they sit in the cream cheese. But they will stay a little bit crunchy, giving these cookie balls a nice bite.
18. Cream Cheese Chocolate Chip Dip
I believe that no party table is complete without a big bowl of sweet dip. So keep the buffalo chicken and spinach dip, but find room for something creamy and indulgent. Your guests will thank you all night! This luscious cheesecake-like dip is a simple blend of cream cheese, butter, and vanilla, along with plenty of powdered sugar.
19. Bisquick Chocolate Chip Muffins
Bisquick is a blend of flour, salt, a little sugar, and leavening agents. It takes all the hard work out of baking and makes your treats extra tender. But that’s not the only secret weapon in these chocolate chip muffins. They’re also loaded with sweet banana, which guarantees you the moistest crumb around. The trick to keeping the sponge light is to only stir the dry into the wet. It won’t need much and stop just as it’s incorporated. Too much, and these will come out dry.
20. Samoa Cookies (Copycat Recipe)
Samoa Girl Scout Cookies are chewy, crunchy, sticky sweet, and loaded with coconut. They’re also topped with plenty of chocolate, making them wonderfully decadent. It all starts with a buttery sugar cookie. You’ll need to make the dough and bake these until they just start to turn brown around the edges. While the cookies are cooling, toast some coconut and mix it into melted caramel. This goes onto top of the cookies, followed by a drizzle of melted chocolate.
21. Oreo S’mores In The Oven
Just because the summer is over doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy s’mores as an after-dinner treat or sinful mid-day snack. Making s’mores in the oven is pretty easy, and the best part is, it’s much safer than standing over a fire! This recipe is extra special because it uses Oreos instead of graham crackers for a richer, chocolatey taste.
22. White Chocolate Chip Cookies
I’ve always loved white chocolate, and when it’s in a cookie, I’m powerless. I’ll devour the whole plate in minutes if you leave me alone with a batch of these! Unfortunately, white chocolate can be a little temperamental. So it’s crucial that you get some top-quality chocolate chips. Otherwise, they might burn in the oven. Of course, the great thing about these cookies is that they’re insanely chewy. You’ll get that texture by under-baking them. So even with slightly cheaper chocolate, these will turn out terrific.
23. Homemade Thin Mints
If you saw that recipe for Samoas and frowned because you’re firmly in the Thin Mint fan club, don’t worry. I have you covered! Not only do these look like the real deal, but if you close your eyes, you’ll think you’re eating them right out of the box. Peppermint extract is the star ingredient here, and it needs to be extract and not essence. But remember that it can be pretty intense, so start out slow and move up as you taste it.
24. Old-Fashioned Peanut Butter Balls
These fantastic peanut butter balls are technically a type of cookie truffle. So, just like the Oreo truffles above, they have a lovely bit of crunch. Rather than using Oreos, which would overpower the peanut butter, you’ll use crushed graham crackers for a lightly sweet but familiar taste. I don’t recommend using golden Oreos or sugar cookies, as they will soften too much when blended with peanut butter. They’ll still be scrumptious but kind of soft, too.
25. Homemade Trail Mix With Chocolate and Nuts
Trail mix is great for people that like to graze. I’m a big fan of snacking throughout the day, and with trail mix, I can enjoy sweet, crunchy, salty, and creamy, all in one handful. You can modify this recipe to suit your preferences. For example, I’m a big pistachio lover, so I always add some of those lovely green nuts to the mix. I also think that color and texture are just as important, so as well as chocolate chips, I like to throw in some yogurt chips. They have a nice creamy tang and go perfectly with nuts and dried fruit.
26. Old-Fashioned Whoopie Pies Recipe
Whoopie pies are like a cross between a cookie and a cake. They’re technically cookie sandwiches with a layer of yummy frosting in the middle. But they’re so soft and tender that they’re closer to cakes than cookies. Because they’re so cake-like, the batter for this is pretty soft, which means they don’t hold up well on a baking tray. So, to make them perfect, be sure to grab a whoopie pie pan.
27. Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark Recipe
It’s never too early to start making peppermint bark. After all, there’s no rule that says it’s just a Christmas treat. I happen to think that chocolate and mint is a lovely combination, and I wish we saw it more during the year. Needless to say, when the holidays do roll around, I go a little crazy and make way too much. If you can’t find any candy canes, try using Andes Mint chips instead. They’re not as colorful, but they’re flavorful and creamy.
28. Rocky Road Fudge – Just 3 Ingredients!
Rocky road should always include milk chocolate and marshmallows. From there, you’ll see everything from cherries to nuts added, depending on where the recipe is from. This version keeps it pretty simple but does also include peanut butter. It helps the chocolate set without going too hard and adds a subtle nutty taste too.
29. McDonald’s Chocolate Shake Recipe
I rarely make milkshakes at home, but when I do, they’re rich, creamy, and loaded with delicious ice cream. There are a few recipes that don’t include ice cream, but I find those lacking. Milkshakes should be so thick you can hardly suck them up the straw, right? For this recipe, just blend ice cream with milk and Nesquik. Or, for something a little sweeter, try using caramel ice cream.
30. No-Bake Cookies
No-bake cookies are the kind of last-minute treat you can make on a random weekday and still feel like you’re indulging in something naughty. They’re full of chocolate and peanut butter flavors, and the oats give them a pleasantly chewy texture. All you need to do is boil cocoa, sugar, milk, and butter, then stir in the oats, peanut butter, and vanilla. To save even more time, try pouring this into a lined baking tin. Then, just cut it into slices once it’s set. Click on a star to rate it!
