From coffee and Guinness to whiskey and Baileys, I just know you’ll want to try them all. St. Patrick’s Day is all about celebrating Irish culture, but I think we can all agree that there’s a fair bit of drinking involved too! So, expect lots of green, plenty of Irish cream, and even a fun shot or two. These St. Patrick’s Day cocktails are ideal for your next party, but feel free to serve them year-round. In fact, I think they would make Mardi Gras extra fun!
1. Green Beer
Let’s get this party started with something simple. Grab your favorite pale beer and some green food coloring – that’s all you’ll need to make green beer. The taste is just the same, but it looks much more festive.
2. Irish Coffee
Everyone knows you can’t celebrate St. Paddy’s Day without some Irish coffee on hand. Luckily, this five-ingredient recipe makes it super easy. It’s rich, bold, and sweet, with just a dash of nutmeg for spice. This recipe is perfect if you need a morning pick-me-up with a kick. In fact, you might want to save it for March 18th instead.
3. Pot of Gold Cocktail
Pot of Gold cocktails are apple-infused with a hint of coconut and fun colors. You won’t care whether you get the green or the gold because they both feature the same brightly tart taste. They’re also equal parts alcohol and pineapple juice, giving you a delightful buzz.
4. Black Velvet Cocktail
Break out the Guinness and your favorite champagne. That’s what you’ll need to make these decadent cocktails. They’re black as sin and twice as yummy. They taste primarily of Guinness – just with more bubbles. Nevertheless, their robust flavor and deep, rich color would make any native Irishman proud.
5. St. Patrick’s Day Green Dublin Cocktail
Believe it or not, that’s not an appletini you’re seeing. Fortunately, it tastes just as good. It has a zingy, tart, slightly bittersweet taste that’s hard to describe. And it’s even harder not to love. You’ll use mint leaves as a garnish, but I also like to muddle mine. Something about the fresh flavor pairs pleasingly with the other ingredients. Try both versions and let me know which you prefer!
6. Baileys Irish Floats
Baileys Irish floats are so over-the-top indulgent that they almost feel criminal. The sweet vanilla ice cream and all that chocolate sauce…it makes me weak in the knees just thinking about it. Add some Guinness and Baileys for the Irish kick, and you’re all set. Just don’t let the kids see you drinking them. They will try to steal them.
7. Massey Cocktail
This lovely orange drink is an Irish take on the classic Manhattan. It’s a bright, dry, herby cocktail with just an edge of sweetness. It takes three minutes to make and is nice and strong. If you want an after-dinner drink that’ll have you grinning like a fool, this is it.
8. Irish Eyes Cocktail
The Irish Eyes is a four-ingredient, 5-minute cocktail with a unique appearance. It combines Irish whiskey, creme de menthe, Irish cream, and cream. So obviously, it’s creamy. But it’s also minty, sweet, and rich. Furthermore, its exciting color makes it a hit on St. Patrick’s Day and Halloween. It’s also sweet enough to serve for dessert. Give it a try for your next party and watch your friends’ eyes light up.
9. Baby Guinness Jello Shots
Nothing makes me want to squeal with glee like adorable Jello shots. And these are definitely adorbs! They look like itty bitty glasses of foamy Guinness, only they’re a little jigglier and creamier. They still feature the robust and stout flavor of dark Guinness, though.
10. Shamrock Shake Shots
Need a drink with a top-notch presentation and crazy-delicious taste? Then, check out these Shamrock Shake Shots. They’re almost too pretty to drink, though somehow I manage 😉 Seriously, though, these are stunning little shots. And they taste just like the Shamrock Shake from McDonald’s – only boozier. You can thank me later!
11. The Irish Maid
French maid costumes may steal the show at Halloween, but this Irish maid will be the talk of your next St. Patrick’s day party. It’s bright, light, flowery, and earthy. You’ll love its mild, natural sweetness and the fact that it isn’t too sugary. It’s perfect for St. Paddy’s Day and is also a delightfully refreshing summer drink.
12. Luck Of The Irish Cocktail
If the luck of the Irish tastes anything like this fruity cocktail, it must be pretty fantastic. This drink combines peaches, pineapples, limes, and whiskey to make a fragrant, fruit-filled treat with gorgeous emerald color. Add a dash of edible glitter, and it’ll be downright magical.
13. Green Bloody Mary
I’ll admit that this isn’t the most appetizing-looking drink at first glance. It’s thick, green, and looks like something the Grinch might knock back on a bad day. But if you love the tangy, tomatoey flavor of Bloody Marys, you’ll adore it. It’s spicy, boozy, and full of garden-fresh flavor. Plus, it’s low-calorie and low-carb, so you can indulge without ruining your diet.
14. Shamrock Sour Cocktail
Looking for something sour and biting? If so, the Shamrock Sour is the mixed drink for you. It’s tart, citrusy, and not even a tiny bit sweet. There’s some simple syrup in there, but it doesn’t do much. Instead, this drink is like eating a Lemonhead and a lime Gusher at once. It’s bright, zingy, and sure to wake up your senses.
15. Green Mimosas
These are the ideal Mimosas to start your St. Patrick’s day off with a bang. They’re sweet, tart, and wonderfully bubbly. They also look a bit like Nickelodeon slime, so the 90s kids will love them!
16. Emerald Sunrise
This gorgeous drink is a Tequila Sunrise with a bit of Irish flair. Imagine the sun rising over the Emerald Isles; it’s like that but with booze. You can make it with lovely blue and yellow layers or mix it for a bright green treat. Either way, the strong, sweet-n-sour taste stays the same.
17. Irish Grasshopper Cocktail
I. Love. This. Drink. It’s sweet, chocolatey, and minty – like eating the best Andes mint you’ve ever had. Plus, it’s stunning with that lovely shade of green. Serve it for St. Patrick’s Day or Christmas – it works just as well for either one. And if you want an adult-themed Dr. Seuss party, you can have it there, too. One drink, two drink, red drink, green drink!
18. Lucky Leprechaun Punch
This frothy, sherbety punch may not actually be lucky, but it is tasty. And it’s ideal if you need a light, festive cocktail that isn’t too potent. I wouldn’t recommend it for baby showers, of course. But it’s a tremendous all-occasion punch for other semi-formal and casual events.
19. Irish Margarita
The Irish margarita might be the most well-balanced margarita I’ve ever tried – and I’ve tried a lot! The corn syrup and juice help sweeten the Aperol’s bitterness. Plus, the lime gives everything a bit of tartness. Tropical notes come in from the pineapple juice and blue curacao. And the whiskey, well, that’s just whiskey – it has its own flavor. The tequila comes through slightly, but not heavily. You’ll love it if you like tropical, sweet, and tangy drinks.
20. Cucumber Basil Martini with Lemon
This fresh, crisp drink is like cucumber water with alcohol. It’s herby, earthy, and not at all sweet. It’s not bitter, though; instead, it has an incredibly mellow flavor. The green color makes it ideal for St. Patrick’s Day, but I think it would be right at home in a high-end spa too.
21. Irish Flag Shot
If you love fun, multi-colored drinks, this one is a blast. Start with the dark green creme de menthe at the bottom. To that, add some Baileys and then Grand Marnier for a hit of orange. Voila! The Irish flag in a shot glass. The taste isn’t bad, though it is a little unusual. This one is definitely more about presentation than flavor. Still, a tray of these for a rowdy Irish crowd? You’d better believe they’ll love them, and probably ask for a second round.
22. Jameson Manhattan
Here’s another excellent Manhattan recipe. This one you’ve probably had before. It’s the typical recipe, but you’ll make it Irish smooth with Jameson whiskey. It’s clean, simple, and to die for.
23. The Irish Mule
Want to turn your Moscow Mule into an Irish Mule? Skip the vodka, and reach for the Irish whiskey instead. It retains the same crisp, refreshing taste but is warmer underneath. It’s also one you’ll want to savor year-round. So, don’t wait for St. Patrick’s Day to give it a try.
24. The Irish Encounter
Imagine a pina colada, but creamier and with bananas. Doesn’t that sound fantastic? If so, you’ll go ga-ga over the Irish Encounter. It’s so thick and smooth, and its sweet taste will make you think of a morning smoothie instead of a cocktail. Try it as an after-dinner dessert/drink, and I’m sure you’ll be hooked. Just have a second one waiting in the wings because you will want another.
25. Lucky Charm Vodka Jello Shots
Unfortunately, there are no Lucky Charms in these shots. I KNOW! I was disappointed at first, too. But then I tried them, and my disappointment faded. These wiggly, jiggly, bright green shots will quickly get you in the St. Paddy’s Day mood. They taste like Jello shots but with a decadent whipped cream topping and shamrock sprinkles making them much more festive. And hey, if you want to top them off with a Lucky Charms marshmallow, go ahead! They’re your party shots, after all.
